Aaron Hernandez: A Cautionary Tale

Aaron Hernandez has been found guilty in the murder of Odin Lloyd.

Not only was Lloyd dating Hernandez’s fiancee’s sister, he was also Hernandez’s friend.

His sentence: Life imprisonment.

I don’t feel sorry for him.

I have no compassion for him.

And I can guarantee I’m not the only person who feels this way because he killed his friend and appears to be remorseless about what he did.

But aside from the heinous nature of the crime itself is the fact that he was one of the fortunate people in life who got to live their dreams and make money doing the thing they love the most.

That’s what makes this story so fucked up. Because he had all of the essential tools he needed in life to be successful.

He had talent. He had drive and determination. He also had a choice between knowing better and doing better.

But Aaron Hernandez is a dumb ass.

Instead of taking his opportunity to become an example of what hard work and perseverance can do he chose to get involved with a whole bunch of stupid shit.

It is a story that many young men and women know all too well. Some of them live to tell the tale while others are laid to rest leaving huge holes in the hearts of their closest loved ones.

And then there are the numerous amounts of young men and women who end up in prison for their actions, much like this dude.

Honestly, none of them will feel sorry for him either. Because a lot of their circumstances were predicated on their environment. They got involved in grimy situations out of desperation, and in some cases desperation and greed. Still, all of their actions lead them down a path ending at a small cell behind iron bars locked away from everything they’ve ever known. Sometimes for a little while, sometimes for the rest of their lives.

The latter is now the beginning of Aaron Hernandez’s next chapter, which unfortunately will be a monotonous tale of redemption and soul searching.

Because if he truly was not about that gangsta life he’ll find a way to off himself in jail.

As I have stated before; the saddest thing in life is wasted talent. Aaron Hernandez is not the first person to waste their opportunity.

Whitney Houston did it. Amy Winehouse did it. Lindsay Lohan continues to do it.

But those types of failures aren’t exclusive only to the rich and famous. I’m sure there are plenty of people from your own lives that you look at and think “Why the fuck are you doing this to yourself?”

I’m not sure if he had no one on his side to deter him from his self-proposed Thug Life or if the people around him were greatly benefitting from his self-proposed Thug Life.

But whatever the case may have been none of that matters now.

Aaron Hernandez is now a permanent member of the What Not To Do Hall of Fame.
