Monday’s Motivation

The Watchers

In Life one thing is guaranteed;

You’re going to meet people. All kinds of people. And some of them aren’t always going to have your 100% best interest at heart but they will smile in your face and laugh with you to keep appearances up.

If you trust them you will share your dreams with them. And they will either believe in your dreams or shit all over them.

There is no in between.

If someone is on your side they will ride for you, cheer you on and motivate you to do something better with yourself.Then you have other people who are awaiting your downfall because they want you to be just as miserable as they are.

They’re watchers. Like lions peering through the tall grass at their prey. They’re waiting for the perfect opportunity to leap out and remind you of how you shouldn’t believe in yourself.

It sucks to be them because they’re the ones who won’t do anything with their lives. They will stay in the same place always and never elevate beyond where they are in their lives.

One of the best lessons my father ever taught me is Watch The Company You Keep. If I can impart anything else to you on this Monday it’s to never stop believing in what you can do. Especially when you’re faced with people who believe in nothing. Including themselves.

    So true, Ben, so true. I’ve been thinking about the whole Company You Keep ideal of late myself. A few days ago, it was specifically in regard to people who consider themselves star athletes in Competitive Suffering Comparison. You know the types: they hear you’re suffering from migraines? Well, they’re pretty sure that they’ve got a brain tumor and so you’ve got no right to complain, because their pain is so much worse than yours. The only way they feel their own battles are legitimized is if they minimize or try to outright dismiss the things other people are fighting in their lives. It’s kind of the flip side of the coin of your ideas here, but it’s the same people doing both things: trying to destroy other’s dreams, while at the same time, insisting that their own nightmares are worse than anyone else’s could possibly ever be.

    Like your dad said, we gotta WTCYK. Toxic people have no place in the lives of anyone who desires to be happy.

      Lol! @ Competitive Suffering Comparison. Love that term.
      I hate people who build upon the negativity as the only thing positive in their life. But misery loves company.
      I’ve known quite a few All Stars in the competitive suffering arena. They’re like Tyra Banks, they always have to One-Up everyone.
